If you plead not guilty, a pre-trial conference will be conducted today or at a later date to discuss a possible settlement with the City Attorney. It is the responsibility of the City Attorney to determine whether or not the charge is justified, and to attempt to reach an agreement with you.
At the Pre-Trial Conference, you and the City Attorney will discuss the case and your respective positions. If an agreement is reached between the parties, a written stipulation will be prepared stating the terms and conditions of the agreement to be presented to the judge for approval. Although the Judge does not participate in the pre-trial hearings, if no agreement is reached, a trial will be scheduled for a later date.
