Detective Bureau

The Detective Bureau is overseen by the Administrative Lieutenant and consists of one Detective Sergeant and two detectives. The Administrative Lieutenant oversees day-to-day operations, assigns detectives to cases, and directly supervises major case investigations. The bureau is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all felonies, drug cases, thefts, frauds, burglaries, insufficient fund cases, aggravated assaults, child abuse cases, sexual assaults, and other misdemeanors that require extended investigations.

Detectives receive specialized training in investigative techniques relating to specific types of crimes such as child/sexual abuse, white collar crimes, fire investigations, evidence collection, drug investigations, and death investigations. The main goal of a detective is to gather information that will successfully identify, apprehend, and prosecute a criminal offender. Detectives work with citizens, businesses, the department's patrol division, and other agencies in order to achieve this goal.
